Dear Sir, You asked for any items not on your list of flicks.
The greatest film ever made on the subject is "Pickpocket"
(1959), dir Robert Bresson. The Criterion collection edition
of this classic work contains several documentary flicks, incl.
scenes from the cabaret (stage magic) act that Mr. Bresson
often witnessed In Paris, and lots of background material.
"American Gigolo" (1980), dir. Paul Schrader, shamelessly
steals the ending of 'Pickpocket,' turning cinema verite &
existential pathos into a star vehicle loaded w. narcissistic
schlock. A fitting homage, but only as cinematic theft . . .
Regards, D.R.
